date 001 💎 w/ sayori
[ Going on an impromptu date wasn't exactly something that Rin had planned - and more importantly, she wasn't exactly a huge fan of the whole 'game' thing anyway, but might as well kill some time. It's not as if anything bad could possibly happen in a science lab besides potentially blowing things up, but thankfully she's well versed in her chemicals to avoid doing. . . that.
Nevertheless, she decides to start off the conversation with: ]
You don't happen to want to make something while we're in here, would you?

[ Past tense, since she's already graduated after all. But that's not the only reason she's good at using chemicals of course - being a magus and all - but that's a well kept secret that she's only telling a few other people. ]
But alright. A lot of the experiments can get pretty dull, but there's some that can get interesting... let's see if they have it here.
[ She'll look through the cabinets to get some containers, and several of the chemicals. In particular, she's trying to find potassium iodate and sulfuric acid. She can probably go grab some water from a sink, too.
And for protection, she'll grab some safety goggles and gloves. ]
Here, catch. [ Which she'll toss over to Sayori. ] You don't happen to be familiar with the Briggs-Rauscher reaction, would you?

Remind me? Ehehe...
[She has no idea what that is.]

Basically, it's known as the oscillating clock, where you mix in three colorless solutions. The ones I have here are potassium iodate, distilled water, and sulfuric acid. If we mix those in together, the color will go from clear, amber, deep blue, and then at the end will be a bluish-black mixture.
I could have done something a little more interesting, but I wanted to start with something simple first.

Oooh, sounds so pretty! Like something you'd find in a poem!
[Liquid that goes from clear, to amber, to deep blue, to black? Definitely some poetic symbolism there under the hands of the right writer.]

[ She can't help but laugh just a little bit. ] Anyway, I'll just pour the amounts we need and then you can pour them all into one container and then mix it.
[ Which she will actually do, in fact. ]

The tendrils of my hair illuminate beneath the amber glow...
The last remaining streetlight to have withstood the test of time...
the last yet to be replaced by the sickening blue-green of the future! [It really lost its somber air with a gentle, girly voice like Sayori's reciting it, but. The meaning is there.]
Like that! Oh, but I guess I should see if before doing all that... ehehe. [She eagerly moves to pour the liquid
Mixing stuff!!! The best part of chemistry.]

[ She takes out a sword which seems to be... actually glowing now?
Probably because she's using it to impress Sayori a bit. ]
But that's a pretty good poem. It does show that she uses a lot of colors, which is associated with strong emotions. Anyway, the colors take some time to change, so we can just chat about other things in the meantime.

Ah!! It's a sword!! And it's so pretty! I had no idea a sword could be so pretty!!
[Granted, she hasn't seen many swords, but. Time for small talk!!]
So what do you like to do for fun back home?
no subject
What I like to do for fun? Hmm... let's see, I practice kenpo and I do a lot of reading, actually. I can also cook, but it's less of a hobby and just more of something I have to do every day since I live on my own. I do have other hobbies, but those are a secret. Or at least, they're supposed to be a secret, but it doesn't really matter here, I guess.
[ There are actual Servants around, after all, and the tablets have their Servant Names on them, so... ] I actually practice magecraft as a fun activity, actually.

[Swords, reading, cooking... All good hobbies to have and something she'd enjoy talking about in general. But that last one really piques her interest.]
Magecraft! So like, are you some kind of magician?

Let's see... a good example would be that magicians can do things like travel through time, or go to parallel worlds. This sword here actually can access parallel worlds using the Second Magic, but that doesn't make me a magician, since I wasn't the one who produced this sword. Although it does get me close. I'm just a poor imitator of the Second Magic. I specialize in placing power in gems in particular and utilizing them in battle, but to be more specific, I can access any of the spells written in my Magic Crest.
[ She'll pulls her left sleeve and her arm starts to glow. Look, it's 'trying to impress Sayori' so. Here we go. ]

Forget colorful liquid, this is something worthy of poetic inspiration. She practically sparkles at the display.]
Rin, that's amazing! You're amazing! [She leans close, scrutinizing the arm with fascination.]
Does it hurt? Can I touch it?
no subject
[ She's kind of embarrassed now that someone's actually seeing it now. ]
It doesn't hurt now, but every now and again it does... but you probably shouldn't touch it.
[ Just going to pull her sleeve back down. ] Anyway, all the spells are written on there, and I can conjure anything on that without having to chant a long spell.

[In hindsight she probably shouldn't have let her enthusiasm get the best of her. Sayori pulls back, looking a bit stricken]
Sorry, I... I hope I didn't make you feel bad or anything. [She tries another smile.] But you're still super amazing! Um, what kind of stuff can you conjure? But don't worry about it if it hurts or anything!
no subject
[ She uses her right arm to hold onto her left as she shows Sayori an example, but she doesn't fire it off. ]
There's other things such as strengthening my body that does require incantations, though. That includes simple things like making the body lighter or making it stronger.

[She rocks on her feet, swaying back and forth]
I wish I could show you something cool, too... but all I can do is poetry. [And maybe not even that well, when compared to the raw talent of Natsuki and the elegant experience of Monika and Yuri.]
